Medication & Supplementation Support

At Innate Wisdom Psychiatry & Wellness, we take a whole-person approach to mental health care—combining psychiatric medication, evidence-based supplements, and other integrative treatments to support your mental health and wellbeing. Whether you’re new to treatment or refining an existing plan, our goal is to make your care feel collaborative, personalized, and informed.

Our psychiatric nurse practitioner, Daniel Plastino, offers expert medication management and supplementation tailored to your unique needs. We take into account your past history and current treatments and goals to develop a safe, effective plan.

What We Offer

Individualized Psychiatric Medication Management

Medication can be a valuable part of your healing journey. At Innate Wisdom Psychiatry & Wellness, medication management is a collaborative and ongoing process where we:

  • Prescribe, adjust, and monitor psychiatric medications

  • Aim to reduce symptoms and improve overall functioning

  • Minimize side effects while supporting long-term wellness

We provide treatment of psychiatric disorders such as depression, treatment-resistant depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, anxiety/panic attacks, PTSD, OCD, and various other mental health conditions.

Your treatment starts with a thorough intake, reviewing your health history, past medication/supplement trials, symptom patterns, and treatment goals. From there, we will co-create a care plan that fits your life and can evolve with you over time.

We’ll also provide clear education about how medications work, possible side effects, and interactions—empowering you to make confident and informed decisions about your care.

Evidence-Based Supplementation for Mental Health

Supplements can enhance traditional psychiatric care, especially when supported by clinical research. At Innate Wisdom Psychiatry & Wellness, we guide you in using supplements safely and effectively—either alone or in combination with other medications.

Although many supplements are available over-the-counter, they can still interact with medications. We ensure your treatment plan accounts for these interactions and is grounded in evidence.

Supplements Supported by Randomized Controlled Trials

These supplements have shown evidence-based benefit in mental health care:

  • Lavender oil

  • L methylfolate

  • Melatonin

  • N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)

  • Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oil)

  • SAMe

  • St. John’s Wort

  • Vitamin D

Though not as rigorously studied, these supplements show clinical promise:

  • Minerals: Zinc, magnesium

  • Enzymes & amino acids: L-theanine, L-tryptophan

  • Adaptogens: Ashwagandha, Rhodiola

Your supplement plan will be thoughtfully integrated with your medication and lifestyle needs as needed.
